ON AIR: Robin Joins Lynn Doyle's show January 9, 2008 at 9p.m. re: Alycia Lane's Termination
1/8/2008

On January 7, 2008, KWY, a Philadelphia CBS television affiliate, fired its highly rated evening news anchor Alycia Lane. Ms. Lane has been off the air since she was charged in mid-December with striking an undercover New York City police officer, and using a sexual slur. Ms. Lane has denied the allegations.

Since anyone can be arrested -- and many people actually are cleared of the charges for which they are arrested -- should an employer be permitted to fire an employee before he or she has been actually convicted of the offenses charged? By firing Ms. Lane before she has had a chance to defend herself, does the TV station send a message to the public that they believe she is "guilty until proven innocent? What do employment contracts typically say about what arrests and convictions mean regarding termination of employment?

Robin joined a lively panel discussion on the issues surrounding Ms.Lane's high profile firing.
